wake up with brows

At Makeup by Kerstin, It's my goal to create natural looking brows that enhance your appearance and compliment your features! I offer both Microblading, Shading, and Combo Brows.

At the start of every service, we will decide together which service is best for you based on a variety of factors. We will thoroughly discuss your brow goals and needs. Prior to proceeding, I will work with you to design a specific shape that best suits your individual facial features.  After mapping and your approval, we can proceed!

Be sure to check out frequently asked questions below and read pre-care instructions prior to booking an appointment

AM I A CANDIDATE FOR MICROPIGMENTATION?

You may not be a good candidate for micropigmentation if you have any of the below conditions. Please reach out using the contact form if you have any questions. Autoimmune: Clients with the below conditions have compromised immune systems which may greatly affect the healing process or health of the client. For safety reasons, I cannot perform microblading services on clients with these conditions. * Diabetes Type 1 - Doctor’s note is required * Cancer - Must be out of active chemotherapy and radiation for a minimum of 8 months * Lupus * Hepatitis B/C * HIV/AIDS Blood Disorders: are at high risk for excessive bleeding and poor results. * Sickle Cell * Hemophilia Skin Conditions: Inherently cause you to be more sensitive, bleed easily, and have more dryness, flaking, or shedding. If you have any of the below on your face, you may not be a good candidate for micropigmentation services. I'm not able to microblade over scarring, moles, bumps, piercings, or keloids. * Severe Acne * Severe Rosacea * Accutane - must be off for 6 months * Steroids - must be off for 6 months * Keloid Formations * Antibiotics - must be off for 2-4 weeks Active Skin Conditions * Shingles * Impetigo * Psoriasis * Pink Eye * Vitiligo In addition, I can’t perform procedures on clients who are pregnant or breastfeeding. To allow hormones time to rebalance, each client that has given birth or finished breastfeeding must wait an additional 4 months before being serviced. *This also applies to all miscarriages and terminated pregnancies* Please review before booking an appointment.

precare and aftercare

To ensure the best results, below are important steps that should be followed both before and after your micropigmentation service.

Pre-Care Instructions

  • Please do not come to your appointment with freshly tinted, dyed, or hennaed brows.

  • No tanning or sun exposure for 14 days before or after your procedure. The sun will cause exfoliation of the pigment and negatively impact your final results.

  • No Botox, fillers, microdermabrasion, or facials of any sort for 4 weeks before. Chemical peels and laser treatments may not be done within 60 days before or after the procedure.

  • Discontinue the use of Retinol/Retin-A 7 days prior to the procedure (It will cause the skin to bleed).

  • Do not shape, wax, thread, tint, or laminate your brows for at least 10 days prior. Stray hairs will be removed at your appointment.

  • Unless medically necessary, avoid taking blood thinners for 5 days prior and 24hrs after procedure. Do not take aspirin, ibuprofen, niacin, fish oil, or vitamin E for 3 days prior.

  • Do not consume alcohol 24 hours prior. This can result in excessive bleeding and affect pigment retention.

  • Do not consume caffeine 12 hours prior. This can result in excessive bleeding or "eye jitters" which result in difficulty completing the service.

  • Discontinue use of eyebrow growth serums for at least 3 months prior to service

After Care Instructions

  • Following your appointment, blot eyebrows for the first 1-2 hours with a clean, dry tissue to remove excess lymph or blood from the area.
  • A few hours post appointment, wash your brows with the aftercare soap provided.
  • Use this soap to clean AM & PM for 10-14 days outside of the shower! Be sure to use clean fingers or a cotton round, no dirty towels. Clean in the direction of hair using 1-2 pumps of soap. Do not scrub or use circular motions. Rinse with cool water and pat dry.
  • Apply provided balm AM & PM for 10 days. You will have enough left over for your touch up if used correctly. A RICE GRAIN sized amount will cover BOTH brows. NOT rice grain on each. Less is more!
  • Do not pick at the brow area or scabs as they heal.
  • Makeup, skincare, shampoo, and conditioner should be kept away from the eyebrows for 10-14 days. When they have fully healed, avoid anti-aging and acne products in the area.
  • Keep the area dry: no sauna, sweating, swimming, entering bodies of water, etc for 10-14 days
  • Keep them dry in the shower by using the shields provided to prevent direct contact with running water and shower products.
  • Avoid heavy exercise for 7 days. Do not get the area sweaty. Light exercise is ok, but be sure to immediately wash brows post workout.
  • No direct sun exposure for 10-14 days. Use SPF sticks or balm after they are fully healed to protect them
  • Contact your physician at the first signs of infection or abnormal swelling
  • Make sure your follow-up appointment is 6-12 weeks after your initial appointment.

frequently asked questions

Here you’ll find a number of frequently asked questions about this service. I tried to include a variety of FAQs, but if you still have questions after going through the list, please get in touch directly and I’ll be happy to provide you with more information.

What can I expect at my first appointment? During your first session, you will receive a consultation where we will go over the procedure and discuss your brow goals. Next we will map and outline your brows to aid in producing a visualization of the final result. I will work to design a shape that suits your individual facial features. After agreeing upon a shape and making sure you are satisfied, we proceed with the appointment. I’ll never push you to complete the service if you aren't feeling comfortable or not 100% certain on moving forward. However, clients are responsible for 100% of the service amount if they decide not to move forward with the appointment. Do I need a touch up appointment? Absolutely! Touch ups are required for the best results. This follow up procedure is crucial for longevity of your permanent makeup and to make any adjustments if necessary. All follow-up appointments are scheduled between 6-12 weeks after the initial appointment. This ensures that brows are fully healed from the initial procedure. Going back into the skin before this time can result in scarring. While I suggest booking between 6-12 weeks after your initial appointment, you have until 6 months to make your follow-up appointment. Anything booked beyond 6 months will be treated and charged as a new service. When should I book my refresher appointment? We recommend that all refresher appointments be done at least 18 months after your touch-up appointment. Brows must fade between 40-50% in order to be serviced. I would rather you wait until your brows have significantly faded and reach out to me with pictures to see if you are ready to book. Otherwise, I will have to push your appointment out if you arrive and they’re not significantly faded. If the pigment hasn’t faded significantly and I push additional pigment into the skin, it will result in blotchiness and unflattering eyebrows for years to come. Products are more advanced than they were ten years ago, so there's no saying just how long they'll last, but if you take good care of your brows and keep up the refresher appointments they should look great even after several years! Does it hurt? Most people say it's not that bad! Both prior and during the procedure, I apply topical numbing creams to the area. This greatly aids in any discomfort you may feel! What products do you use? Here is the list of products I use. Feel free to look up the products for additional ingredient details. - I use the Brow Daddy pigment collection. - All of the needles/blades I use are stainless steel & single use only. - Before and during the procedure, I use Zensa 5% Lidocaine primary numbing cream. After the procedure, I apply Bowler Esthetics Comfort Candy secondary numbing solution. - Before, during, and for aftercare, I use Bowler Candy Cleanse Cleanser. -For aftercare, you are provided with either Bowler Permanent Makeup Aftercare Balm or Lotion What can I expect after my Microblading Appointment? While at first your brows may appear almost perfect, this will change. Please be aware of the healing stages to avoid stressing about your brows. Your brows will go through several stages where they will become noticeably darker, then will become scabbed and itchy, and finally will almost disappear (ghosting stage), before finally healing to 60-80% of their original depth. After your Microblading procedure, your eyebrows may appear red or swollen, but this typically subsides within 24 hours. Between Day 2-5, the pigment will oxidize, making the brows look darker and redder. This is normal. In most cases, the pigment will fade by 20-40% once fully healed. Between Days 5-10, you will develop scabs and or flakes in the brow area and they might become very itchy. This too is normal. Do not pick at the area, as you could remove pigment and cause scarring! Until fully healed, you may see spots or patches on your eyebrows. After this flaking stage is complete, your brows will become very light and almost disappear (the ghosting stage) Don’t fret! Within the next 4-6 weeks, the pigment will darken and return to the skin. It will take 4-6 weeks for your brows to heal completely. You will be able to address any pigment that does not return at your follow-up appointment. At that point, I will evaluate your retention, touch up any sparse areas, and make color adjustments if necessary to give you flawless brows that will last up to 36 months. Can I book an appointment if I've previously had my brows done? At this time, I am not offering services to those with previous work done elsewhere. However, I’d be happy to provide recommendations on removal services if you're unhappy with your current results.
